Week 6: eSchool News: New Ways Students Cheat on Tests

After reading this article, I am just amazed with how clever students have become. I think that it is very interesting to read all of the newest ideas. I cannot fathom that students are cheating their way through school. What is the point of school if the students don't retain any new information. Cheating is the worst way to gain new information because the students aren't learning anything. These cheating students are simply copying information and throwing away their cheat sheets. It actually shocks me after reading that there have been cases of people taking other's SATs for money. This is crazy to me. How can any person feel proud of themselves, when getting into a college if they didn't even get into it themselves. I have worked very hard to gain the knowledge that I did in high school to get me into SUNY Cortland. I feel as though if one has cheated to get into college, it can be pretty obvious because they may not be up to the same education level as others around them. Why struggle in a school that isn't the right fit for you, when you can work hard, and go to the college that is right for you. Cheating your way through school really bothers me because I work so hard for my grades. Cheating your way through school will eventually catch up with you one day. I do not recommend this option to anyone. Just work hard, and do the right thing.

  1. Hey, thanks for posting this. You're right...it's obvious when people cheat their way along...but somehow they still can keep doing it. My friend, from another country, told me that some of her fellow students from her home country were paying up to $50 per page to have people write their papers. She was struggling along, but was at least getting honest grades. Sometimes life isn't fair, but as you said, it's always important to do the right thing! :)

  3. I agree. I was always frustrated when I knew people were cheating while I spent all my time studying hard for tests. It's not like you can tell your teacher people were cheating too because then you wouldn't be "cool". People should definitely just do the right thing!

  4. It is kind of scary to think about how students are cheating their way through school instead of working hard to earn the grade they truly deserve. People who do cheat their way through school hurts me too because I know how hard I have to work for the grades I get.

  5. After reading your blog, I actually thought about how many students do cheat and how it is the teachers who need to be more aware of what is happening in their classroom. In my head I also was thinking about how I would separate my students when they are taking tests and I saw myself walking around making sure that no one was cheating. Like you said, cheating gets you no where and I would not allow that in my classroom. I also believe that getting into a college takes a lot of hard work and the idea of people taking other peoples SAT's boggles my mind. I would never thought that people pay others to get them into college. If people can't even take the SATs how are they possibly going to be able to get through the work that colleges sets up for their students. This seems like a very interesting article and I agree with what you had to say about it.

  6. this is crazy to read that there are still students out there cheating on tests. I remember in high school the students who never did their work were constantly cheating off of my friends and teachers never said a thing. this inspires me to make sure that i will be more aware of what is going on in the classroom.

  7. I was placed in a 5th grade classroom for practicum. a little girl was just transfered in from another school. She is at a kindergarden literacy and math level.. I wondered to myself, did this student cheat her way through 5 grades, or did the teachers cheat her by passing her? How can this happen??
